Vitamins taken by mouth become available to the body slowly and are not readily absorbed. The vitamins need to be digested and then taken up by the blood stream in order to provide the healthy benefits. Vitamins that are given by IV infusion are immediately absorbed into the blood stream making it available to the body as soon as it is infused.
There is nothing special that needs to be done to prepare for your appointment. It is a good idea to drink a full glass of water or two prior to your visit so that you are not dehydrated. Even slight dehydration can make it more difficult to place the IV into the vein. In effort to make you visit as seamless as possible it is a good idea to drink some water before you come in.
Thankfully, receiving vitamin infusions is very safe. It is difficult to receive too much of the vitamins that are given. The body simply eliminates any excess vitamins through urine. Because of this, some people choose to come weekly. Some decide to schedule monthly visits. It depends on each individual.
